The Double Degree Program between Chiang Mai University and Chiba University

Double Degree Programs: Doctor of Philosophy Program in Pharmacy (International Program)


This doctoral program promotes and develops research integrated with knowledge from local wisdom. It creates opportunities for new knowledge in medicines, herbs, and other health products and public health systems. Further, it involves managing the country's pharmaceutical system and health policy to produce research results or new knowledge that can be transferred to society or innovations that can be used to solve the country's pharmaceutical problems. The program encourages the country's development towards a state of self-reliance in terms of the people's social, economic and well-being.

          The Doctor of Philosophy Program in Pharmacy provides two double degree programs with the Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chiba University, Japan and College of Pharmacy, Kaohsiung Medical University, Taiwan. Those participating in the dual degree program will receive degrees from the two institutions. Students not participating in the dual degree program will receive a Ph.D. (Pharmacy) in only one degree.

          Costs of students participating in the dual degree program are specified in the Agreement for Double Doctoral Degree Program between the Faculty of Pharmacy, Chiang Mai University and the Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chiba University or College of Pharmacy, Kaohsiung Medical University, Taiwan, as described below.

Ø  Students from home institutions selected to study in this program under the Dual Degree Program will be exempted from tuition fees. The host university will provide facilities for the students’ research theses and will facilitate the students regarding accommodation finding. 

Ø  Thai students under the Dual Degree Program will be exempt from the tuition fee and have the opportunity to receive a scholarship for related expenses from the host university.

Ø   All expenses are borne by students participating in the Dual Degree Program, which are not specified in the double degree preparation agreement above, such as international travel expenses, cost of preparing for the trip (passport issuance fees, fees for obtaining a permit to enter the country etc.
